Cachemire - Suffit juste d'une Seconde
Second look
Here is a rock band that I knew just a little, from afar. Of course, it’s been founded 10 years ago, so I had heard about. I must have listened to an album or two, and I stopped there. But I kept them in my sights. Just in case.
And now they had the excellent idea to integrate Alice Animal into their ranks, whose solo career I had followed (and especially this song). A 2th guitarist who is both powerful in the riffs and skilled in the solos. It only takes a second (like said in the title) of watching any of their live performances of 2025 to realize that with her they have upgraded from "not bad" to "super good". Including a remarkable appearance at Hellfest!
Of course, this album was recorded before her arrival, but I want to believe that it is symptomatic of their evolution.
If the schoolboy spirit and the style à la Téléphone they wore at their beginnings remains here and there, their rock has hardened, carrying strong messages, often political, bringing them closer to No One is Innocent ("Reset"). Good.
Result? 13 little bombs made for the stage, which we really want to bawl at the top of our lungs with the singer. Enjoyable!
So yes I listen and I listen again and I enjoy "À l'Ancienne" (old-fashioned). And no: I love Valenciennes, since they come from Nantes.
You have to see them, all dressed in white, skirt for the gentlemen, shorts for the young lady. A non-conformism that will serve well the song "Adam". For the lyrics of this song raise the painful question of people born by mistake in a body of the opposite sex. Until the final "No", not even yelled. Poignant.
Other themes on their list: influencers ("Mouscash"), the Average Joe Sixpack at the family meal ("Rien à Foutre"), the routine in the couple ("Suis-Moi Baby!"), devastating mental disorders ("Ces Voix"), a harsh look at the 2020s when we will be in "2080". Remarkable!
Here is a rock band that we can no longer afford to know just a little, from afar.

Short!
We're 3 minutes per track, and it's not an average: all the tracks are 3 minutes long. More or less. We just go up to 3:45 on the last one ("Chanson pour Sépultures"), just to end on a high note – and with Yarol Poupaud, if you please – and we fall at 2:35 on the opening one ("Reset"). Rough around the edges. No time to fall asleep or be bored.
To quibble, I would deplore that the 2th verse is often abbreviated, making the chorus fall too quickly. The lyrics being good, I sometimes wish I had a little more... -
